About
About
Justin grew up in lower northern Michigan in a very small community. Looking to help steward the land and inhabitants, Justin attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in wildlife biology. Justin's childhood and education guided by the outdoors led him to Oneida Township for its rural community with close opportunities in Grand Ledge.
Justin started his career while in school at Quality Farm and Fleet, moving up in the company before taking another career turn. Justin has been working in business administration for the past 27 years, rising to the position of President and overseeing a company with $6.5M in revenue and over 400 employees.
Over the last 27 years, Justin has grown eager for a career change to give back to the community. Yes, some may call it a mid-life crisis, but Justin is taking it in stride with success. Justin began serving as chair of the Oneida Township planning commission and also serves as the assessor for Oneida Township. Additionally, Justin and his wife, Jackie, started a small business, running a very successful pet sitting and grooming business in Oneida Township.
Community has always been an important part of Justin's life. There are only a few years that you wouldn't see Justin in all the Grand Ledge parades!
Justin runs a local business in Oneida Township along with his wife, Jackie.
Justin and Jackie are proud to have raised three children who have become successful young adults - Landon, Larissa, and Lane.
The Rights Skills for the Job
Justin first started serving the township as a Planning Commissioner in July of 2016. He listened to township residents and their request for solar ordinances and helped form the current Oneida Charter Township solar ordinance. Justin firmly believes decisions like solar and wind farms are best left to the township and out of the state's control.
Justin became the Planning Commission chairperson in June of 2019. He has since helped develop the township's Master Plan is and is helping redefine the township's ordinances. In 2021, he started taking the State of Michigan's 8-month certified assessor's course and earned his certificate in July of 2022. He mentored under the then former assessor and took over the assessment roll in 2023. Justin assisted the Supervisor in 2023, but officially became the Deputy Supervisor in January of 2024.
Keeping Politics Out of Local Government
Justin Kilgore is running as an independent candidate (No Party Affiliation) because politics gets in the way of providing critical services at the local level. Justin will always make decisions based on the needs of township residents, not a political party. Providing accurate, efficient, and speedy services should not be partisan.
