Priorities
Justin Kilgore is running as an independent candidate (No Party Affiliation ) because he doesn't want to see politics getting in the way of providing critical services at the local level. Justin will always make decisions based on the needs of township residents, not a political party. Providing accurate, efficient, and speedy services should not be partisan.
The priorities of the township should be the priorities of the residents - not the other way around. As a planning commissioner, Justin has fought hard to represent the interest of residents. Justin is in favor of local governments being able to decide their future.
For example, solar and wind farms (alternative energy) is a huge priority for the State. Justin is not against either of these forms of alternative energy, but they have to be put in the right places. Just like our township ordinance states, these forms of alternative energy ARE allowed in the township, but in certain places that make sense. Justin doesn't want the State to tell him, or you, what can and can't happen for our residents. Justin would prefer those decisions be left in the hands of the township residents.
Transparency is a buzz word in politics and Justin doesn't like buzz words and politics as usual. However, Justin wants to ensure every resident knows what is going on at the township. The township offices have many visitors on a daily basis and Justin encourages resident participation. However, the township can expand access to information by updating the website, using social media, and providing more frequent updates to residents.
Thanks to the help of a township resident and our clerk, Oneida Township has received a grant to build our first park. Justin wants to encourage more community based projects like parks, walkways, and safer biking routes throughout the township. These are priorities Justin helped establish in our Master Plan and he will adovcate for as Supervisor.
Justin would love to hear from you. What do you want from your township? Tell him more!
